Cynda Fleming, B.Mus, B.Ed, M.Mus, M.Ed

Cynda Fleming is a professional trumpet player with a passion for brass pedagogy. She has over 25 years international teaching and performing experience.

Cynda is currently the principal cornetist of the Upper Canada Brass Band. She was a trumpeter with the Korean-Canadian Symphony Orchestra for 17 years, and has been a guest performer with the Kingston Symphony Orchestra, the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, and the Voices Chamber Choir. As a soloist, she continues to perform numerous weddings and church services throughout Ontario. In her younger days, she spent three glorious years as solo cornet with the Fanfare de Gryon, a brass band based in the French part of the Swiss Alps where she performed, taught, and marched up and down the mountains!

Cynda has a Bachelor of Music, a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance, and a Master of Music in Education. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Toronto, where she is focusing her research on Swiss community bands and their associated music schools. Cynda is an active member of the International Trumpet Guild and the Ontario Music Educators’ Association. She is looking forward to presenting her third clinic on brass pedagogy at the OMEA conference this November, 2019, and is honoured to be accepted to present at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in May, 2020!
